About Us

Rooted & Commissioned

Rooted in Truth. Growing in Grace. Overflowing with Love.

Together, Pastor Kent and Pastor Dennis share a legacy of nurturing both individuals and the Church body into an intimate, growing relationship with God the Father—through His Son Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Their purpose has always been to model a faithful, Spirit-led life—one marked by wisdom, humility, and integrity. Through teaching, discipleship, and genuine love in both public and private life, they have planted seeds that continue to flourish in this new season at Oasis Church.

At the heart of it all:
To know Him deeply. To follow Him daily. To reflect Him wholly.

Pastor Dennis Oberg

  Lead Pastor Oasis Church

“Be the Church. Every day.”

Pastor Dennis Oberg is a steady guide and faithful teacher with a heart for the Word and a vision for the Church. After decades of leading, teaching, and mentoring across ministries, Dennis now serves as the Lead Pastor of Oasis Church—stepping into the role with humility, strength, and deep love for God’s people.

He believes church isn’t just a place we go, but a people we become—learning the Word, growing together, and overflowing with purpose. With a shepherd’s heart and a teacher’s gift, Dennis is passionate about equipping the Church to live with conviction, walk in truth, and become an oasis in a dry and weary world.

Pastor Kent Simmons

Founding and Teaching Pastor

Pastor Kent, or better known as PK, faithfully led Canyon Community Church for over 25 years, cultivating a culture of integrity, biblical teaching, and authentic community. With wisdom, humility, and a deep love for the Church, he shepherded generations and built a strong foundation rooted in Christ. His final season of leadership modeled a rare kind of strength—teaching on succession, blessing the next chapter, and reminding us all that true leadership is legacy. The impact of his ministry continues to flow through the people and purpose of Oasis Church.

Who we are and what we believe.

From the Canyon to the Oasis

A Legacy of Leadership. A Future of Overflow.

We honor the rich legacy of Canyon Community Church and the faithful leadership of Pastor Kent for over 25 years. His shepherding presence, rooted teaching, and unwavering love for the church created a strong and steady foundation. In his final message, Pastor Kent taught on ordination and succession—not as a farewell, but as a faithful handoff. His words reflected the humility of a true leader and the strength of a church built on Christ.

As we move forward into this next season as Oasis Church, we carry with us the deep roots of Canyon—every prayer prayed, every life changed, every step of faithful obedience. This is not a break from the past, but a continuation of it. An Oasis is formed in dry places. It’s a place of rest, restoration, and refreshing for those who thirst. That’s who we are called to be.

Oasis Church exists to learn the Word, grow together, and overflow with purpose. We believe the best way to honor where we came from is to keep walking in the legacy of discipleship, truth, and love that Pastor Kent and Canyon began.

This is a new name, but not a new heart. The water is rising—and it’s still the same well.

We Believe

The Scriptures, both Old and New, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings; the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of mankind and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

That Jesus Christ is true God and true man having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Additionally, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict mankind, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, gift and empower the believer for Godly living sacrifice.

That man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is, therefore, lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

That the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and, thus, become children of God.

That water Baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation.

That the true Church is composed of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the Head.

That only those who are, thus, members of the Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.

In the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord; of the unbeliever to judgment and the everlasting conscious separation from God.

In the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this "Blessed Hope" has a vital bearing on the personal life of the believer.
